Salvage & Wreck Removal Conference (5-7 December 2018, London)

Headline: The complexities of salvage operations and wreck removal issues

Salvage & Wreck is the world’s largest gathering of salvage professionals and a key venue for hundreds of global industry decision makers. The conference will return to London from 5 to 7 December 2018 under the banner of ‘Collaboration, cooperation and risk management for casualty response and wreck removal’.

This year’s event will deliver essential knowledge and experience from some of the best salvage professionals in the business, as well as specific case studies analysing some of the largest and most complex salvage operations in recent memory. The objective is to provide guidance and best practice for future salvage operations, especially those involving large container ships.

In over two decades since the event was first held, the operational and commercial demands placed upon salvors have altered significantly. New technologies require enhanced technical know-how, changing contracts need improved legal savvy, and diminishing profits encourage diversification into new streams of revenue.

To reflect the changing nature of the salvage industry, the organisers have developed an agenda that will provide targeted insights with special learning tracks covering legal and insurance issues; oil and HNS spill response; practical demonstrations of new salvage technologies for salvage operations; and assessment of wreck removal challenges.

In addition, this year’s Salvage & Wreck conference will be the first to provide a single platform for salvage industry players to connect with maritime emergency experts and gain a better understanding of procedures in the pre-salvage stage. The Maritime Accidents & Emergencies Summit, a one-day event held alongside the main conference, will boost participants’ expertise in effective planning and response with reference to search & rescue operations.

Find out where the salvage industry is heading: hear from the likes of the UK P&I Club, Tsavliris Salvage, ISU, TT Salvage, IMO, Clyde & Co, European Shippers Council (ESC), The Standard Club, IUMI and many more on commercial contracts, developments in casualty management, dealing with general average, wreck removal best practice, new technology for salvage operations, and opportunities for growth.
