New mutation of Covid-19 scares Manila, bans imposed on crew changes

New strains of Covid-19 found in the UK and South Africa are intimidating to immigration authorities around the world. It was found that the mutations of the virus are much more dangerous than the «original» Covid-19, and over the past month have spread rapidly around the world.

In the Philippines, the main point of crew change during the pandemic, government decided to stop changing crews for sailors who had visited 21 countries of the world two weeks before visiting the republic. According to a Facebook post, the Philippines Ports Authority (PPA) has decided to suspend crew changes until January 15 for sailors who have visited Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lebanon, Netherlands, Singapore , South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK or USA recently. The PPA has warned that additional countries may be added to the list.
