The largest wind farm in Europe will be built in Ukraine

Norwegian NBT AS and China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Co., Ltd. (CET) signed two agreements on the construction of wind farms in the Zaporizhia region. It is expected to be the largest wind farm in Europe. It is reported by «Энергореформа».

The agreements deal with the design, procurement and construction (EPC) of the Zofia II and Zofiya III wind farms with a capacity of 300 MW and 450 MW, respectively. After the construction is completed, the wind farm will generate 2,900 GWh per year.

«Zofia will generate enough electricity to meet the needs of approximately 340 thousand households. Wind farm’s power plants are expected to cut CO2 emissions by 1.6 million tons per year, which will have a positive impact on the environment,» the NBT said in an official statement.

The total investment in Zofia wind farms will exceed € 1 billion (approximately 1% of Ukraine’s gross domestic product (GDP).
