The Verkhovna Rada supported the request to the President with 255 votes on the need to ratify the 2006 Maritime Labor Convention

People’s Deputy Tatyana Plachkova on her Facebook page said that the Verkhovna Rada supported her request to the President with 255 votes on the need to ratify the 2006 Convention on Labor in Maritime Navigation.

“The Convention is sometimes called the “Seafarers’ Bill of Rights” because it defines the minimum international standards that can significantly improve the working and living conditions of seafarers. Now the Convention has been ratified by 97 countries, but not by Ukraine — it’s time to fix it!” — wrote Plachkova. “It’s time to stop treating seafarers as a source of income for corrupt officials, they are key workers and should be protected by the state!”, — she added.
