Japanese shipping company Santoku Shipping has been linked to an order for two Capesize bulkers at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS).
The latest order brings the company’s orderbook at the Chinese shipbuilder to four ships.
The company now has four Ultramax and two Kamsarmax bulkers on order.
Santoku has two more newbuilds on order, VesselsValue’s data shows. Namely, two more Panamax bulk carriers are being built at Chinese Nantong COSCO KHI.
The wide-beam 186,000 dwt Capesizes will meet the Tier III NOx requirements and are scheduled for delivery in 2020.
The previous duo was booked at the yard last year, and is slated for completion in 2019.
Separately, Japanese owner Doun Kisen is reported to have returned to Nantong Xiangyu for a further pair of 63,500 dwt Ultramaxes, delivering in 2020.
