For three days, representatives of business circles, heads of transport companies and IT companies, government agencies participated in the exhibition «TRANS EXPO ODESA 2021» at the Seaport in Odesa.
MediaCompas and the magazine «Shipping» organized the international transport forum TRANS EXPO ODESA 2021, which included exhibitions «TRANSUKRAINE 2021», «TRANSRAIL UKRAINE 2021», international exhibition on shipbuilding, shipping and port development «ODESA 20» in transport and logistics.
The partners of the event were: The Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, the Administration of Seaports of Ukraine, the Israeli company TrakNet, Kyivstar and Euroterminal.
The forum «EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT OF SEAFARERS», which has been held this year fot the eighth time, also joined the long-awaited event and the association of representatives of maritime, transport business and professionals.
The opening ceremony with the cutting of the ribbon was attended by a very significant number of invited high-ranking officials, and the greeting word was delivered by the following guests: Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration Serhiy Hrynevetsky; Mayor of Odesa Gennady Trukhanov; Deputy Chairman of the Odesa Regional Council Vadym Shkarovsky; Volodymyr Kreydenko, People’s Deputy of Ukraine, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Transport and Infrastructure; Director of the Department of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Multilateral Cooperation and Protocol Dmytro Voloshenkov; Director of ANGLO-EASTERN UKRAINE — general partner of the forum «EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT OF SEAFARERS» Andriy Boyko; Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the International Forum «EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT OF SEAFARERS», Rector of the National University «Odesa Maritime Academy» Mikhail Miyusov; Organizer of the exhibition «TRANS EXPO ODESA», General Director of MediaCompass Ukraine, publisher of the magazine «Shipping», a member of the Union of Journalists of Ukraine, head of international cooperation with the media Oleksandr Syvak.
The 24th International Conference «Development of Ukraine’s Transport System: Challenges and Prospects. FOCUS: Ports and Multimodal Transportation. How to Increase and Boost GDP» included 6 sections, which were held during two working days.
The event traditionally gathers a wide audience of speakers and participants — top officials, members of diplomatic missions, representatives of maritime international organizations, leading global and national port operators, large manufacturers and traders, private investors and corporate business representatives.
The unique format of the event is aimed at the development of port infrastructure, financing of projects in the port sector, increasing the cargo base and attracting cargo flows, digitalization of ports and the introduction of innovative technologies. Will allow to find partners and like-minded people, in order to ensure the sustainable development of the maritime industry, industry and the economy as a whole.
The conference was opened by Volodymyr Kreydenko, Volodymyr Holodnytsky, Dmytro Voloshenkov, Director of the Department for European Integration and Multilateral Cooperation of the Ministry of Strategy and Industry, and Adnan Rakhman, Head of the EU-funded project «Support to Ukrainian authorities in developing national transport model and master plan». During the working days of the section «Transport and transit corridors in ensuring the sustainable development of states», with the moderator Edvins Berzins, a member of the Council of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the transport strategy of Ukraine 2030, its implementation stages and place on the world map were discussed.
The moderator of the second section Farid Safarov, Director General of the Directorate of Digital Infrastructure for Transport, Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, shared cases and new projects in smart solutions field for Ukrainian ports and terminals.
The session was also joined by Mykhailo Rak, Convergent Solutions Architect, Kyivstar, who raised the issue of private networks role and cloud solutions for port modernization and autonomy.
The topic of automation was supported by Kateryna Lungu, Head of Marketing at Quantum International, but with a specific example of a manufacturing company.
Andriy Chervonyuk, Business Solutions Manager at Hexagon Geospatial (Softprom), highlighted the benefits of using geospatial information for navigation, security and port infrastructure management.
The report «Modern unmanned DJI solutions for ports, terminals and ships» presented by Oleksandr Fomenko, the head of DJI Enterprise’s unmanned solutions department at QUADRO.ua, was a very important benefit for the work of the section.
Vinset Payrot presented an important topic related to the ecology of new fuels — hydrogen and methanol, and their use in the Ukrainian market.
The third section started its work with a panel discussion «Transport corridors. Development of multimodal transport in Ukraine», where the experts on the development of routes, freight traffic are were given a word. They spoke on projects aimed at attraction of private traction on public roads, pricing for private traction; road transport in the system of multimodal transportation; prospects for the development of the Odesa-Gdansk route; opportunities for cooperation between Ukraine and Latvia in the development of multimodal transport, shared their cases and vision of the real situation. The speakers were: Artem Khachaturian, director of Ferry-Plus LLC; Michal Stupak, Key Account Manager, Port of Gdansk; George Doborzynidze — Logistics Expert «Further support to the implementation of AA obligations in the transport sector implementation of NTS in Ukraine (ASSISST 2)».
The fourth section, after temporary networking and personal conversations between speakers and delegates, began with a greeting from the moderator Vladyslav Kadlubitsky, Specialist in Water Transport Cooperation from the Embassy of the Netherlands in Ukraine.
Edwin Locke, Assistance for Dnipro transport development Project, presented the Strategy for the Development of Inland Waterways of Ukraine 2021-2031.
«Calculation of gateway capacity — now and in the coming years» was presented by Adrian Krolius, Panteia, WaterwayTech Holland project coordinator. Mark Zwaan, Rijkswaterstaat, shared the experience of the Dutch agent Rijkswaterstaat in inland waterway management. Dmitry Kovtunenko, Saab Technologies, spoke about the new generation of systems for managing the movement of ships on the example of the Maritime Services Suite. Richard van Lier, STC-Nes, had the opportunity to put forward his vision on «Integrated Sustainable Development and Focus on Education and Training».
The second day was continued by the 5th section, which was opened by the moderator Oleg Platonov, President of the Association «Transport, Forwarding and Logistics Organizations in Ukraine» UKRZOVNISTRANS». The main issues raised at the section were: networks and what needs to be done to increase the interoperability of the Ukrainian transport network, what are the solutions to the problem of synchronization of transport and customs policy to increase the competitiveness of the China-Ukraine land route, ways to attract investment, experience of MSC world leader, potential economy of E40 water corridor. The speakers of this panel were: Sabukha Temirov, Program Coordinator of the GUAM Secretariat; Andriy Haidutsky, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of AMPU; Vyacheslav Voronyi, Volodymyr Kozakevich, General Director of AP Marin LLC.
Victor Dovgan, an expert of the project «Support to the authorities of Ukraine in developing a national transport model and master plan, spoke on the concession and privatization of ports in Ukraine: pre-feasibility study of the concession of the port of Berdyansk». Oleg Matyusha, Adviser and Head of Infrastructure Practice at Kinstellar, compared the concession and privatization of ports. Anna Sechko — Marine Reform Expert of the Reform Support Team of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, analyzed all the possibilities of concession projects in Ukrainian seaports.
Within the «Speakers ’Corner» a Trucknet Platform – a reliable Cargo Automation Tool was presented by Sorin Teriteanu, General Manager of Trucknet Europe & Romania. Another novelty «S-4 Tools for Drivers» was presented by Jesper Denis Schliemann, Corr-Map company.
Section 6 entitled «Logistics Hub System for the Development of Multimodal Transportation» was moderated by Volodymyr Kozakevich, CEO of AP Marin. He began with a review of innovations. Later the presentation «Using IT to optimize logistics and supply chains» by Vitaliy Shevchenko, GreenNet continued the topic. Andriy Skidan, General Director of the Association of International Freight Forwarders of Ukraine AMEU, presented the report «Multimodal terminals VS multimodal operators: roles and tasks»; Alexei Gassiy, shared the experience of the world leader MSC in the development of multimodal transportation. And the Director of Legal Support of IMTREX LLC Andriy Levchenko spoke about the development of multimodal transportation in the North-Western region. Maciej Getnerowski, Director of Intermodal Development, Laude Smart Intermodal presented the capabilities and benefits of the Zamosc terminal — the gateway between East and West. Stanislav Kovalev, Head of Cargo Insurance at Marine Insurance Services, and Iryna Glushchenko, Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, completed the busy program of the two-day conference on insurance and risk management of foreign investors.
During all three days visitors and reputable speakers, directors of transport companies, ports, terminals had the opportunity to sign a memorandum or present innovative projects, find investors or establish contacts in a productive informal environment between business and professionals. The forum «Trans Expo Odesa 2021», every year contributes to the maintenance of Ukraine’s reputation of a transit and maritime state.
