The numbers are surprising: time-charter rates in the container ship market peaked

The Infranews portal, referring to TASS, reports that time-charter rates on the container ship market have reached a maximum in the past thirteen years. And the shipowners are already securing them with new contracts. The supply in the container tonnage market is still in short supply in all segments in the face of high demand and chronic congestion in ports. Experts predict that the diktat of shipowners will continue in the future.

Market participants say that many shipowners refuse to discuss the possibility of extending the charter for less than 24 months. It is worth noting the recent extension by CMA CGM of the contract for chartering the container ship Nordic Macau for 3,421 TEU, for 22-25 months at a rate of $ 21.5 thousand per day. At the same time, Hamburg Süd recently rented a ship for $ 7.25 thousand.
