In Turkey, an abandoned ro-ro ship runs aground during a storm

An abandoned ro-ro cargo ship Aqua Hercules ran aground during a storm north of Iskenderun, Turkey. The Aqua Hercules (formerly Malmo Link, Finnhawk) is a ro-ro cargo ship built in 1980 without a registered national flag. It was seized by creditors in 2013, and ownership was transferred to an undisclosed party, according to Equasis. The last AIS signal was received near Iskenderun in mid-2013 and has remained there ever since.

According to local media reports, the crew left the ship due to non-payment of wages. This week there was a heavy storm here, the ship ran aground. According to Medya Gazete, no one was on board at the time of the accident.
