Two polar expedition vessels are ordered by Mystic Cruises

Mystic Cruises, a brand of Portuguese financial holding Mystic Invest, has ordered two polar expedition vessels which are worth EUR 118 million (USD 132.6 million), according to Martifer, a parent company of the West Sea shipyard.

The newbuilds will be built based on the Polar Code (Ice class of the Explorer series) and equipped with a hybrid propulsion system.

Each of the ships will be able to accommodate 200 passengers and 112 crew members.

Mystic Cruises already has one 9,300-ton vessel on order at the abovementioned yard.

Scheduled for completion this month, World Explorer will be chartered out to Nicko Cruises and Quark Expeditions.
