The Turkish general cargo ship EFE MURAT was run into a gale at Bari breakwater, Italy, Adriatic sea, early in the morning on February 23.
The ship was ballasting from Ortona Italy, north of Bari, to Aliaga.
Captain headed for Bari with intention to shelter from storm, but changed his mind and decided to continue voyage.
The ship couldn’t hold on against wind and swell, and drifted aground. 15 members of crew are safe.
It was mentioned, that this wasn’t connected with any mechanical failure.
