Italian shipowner Raffaele Brullo, head and founder of the shipping company Augusta Due, has been placed under house arrest by the Palermo Coast Guard. He is accused of fraud in the case of the fishing vessel Nuova Iside. It will be recalled that it sank off the coast of Sicily on May 12, 2020.
The chemical tanker Vulcanello M collided with a fishing vessel, killing three workers. Prosecutors say the owner of the Augusta Due ordered the hull to be repainted a few days after the incident to eliminate any possible signs of a collision. According to the VDR tracking system, the cause of the accident could be the tanker Augusta Due. Two crew members aboard the Vulcanello M were arrested.
