The volume of grain transshipment by Nibulon via the Danube has decreased to 100 thousand tons per month with a passport capacity of 300 thousand tons.
As Nibulon’s director of interaction with the authorities Mykhailo Rizak reported at the Grain Storage Forum, the situation continues to deteriorate.
«In the best months, we transshipped up to 250 thousand tons through the Izmail terminal. Now this figure is falling to 30 thousand tons. In the near future, transshipment may stop altogether due to the loss of competitiveness of the Danube route due to high costs for ship freight in Constanta and logistics,» he noted.
According to Rizak, the situation could worsen even further if logistical approaches are not reviewed and the route from any Ukrainian elevator under CIF terms is not ensured.
“The Danube is steadily sliding to zero,” the company representative concluded.
