6 LNG-carriers for Avenir LNG

Chinese Shipbuilding company Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering (CIMC SOE) to built six LNG carriers for Bermuda-registered company Avenir LNG.

According to the terms of a contract, LNG bunkering vessels should be delivered in 2021.

Details about the contract emerged following the yard’s announcement on the construction contracts becoming effective.

The 7,500 m3 vessels will be equipped with engines that can run on both diesel and LNG. Carriers will have a class notation for bunkering which enables the provision of LNG bunkering services if required.

Avenir LNG was formed by Stolt-Nielsen, which holds majority of the company shares, in cooperation with Golar LNG and Höegh LNG.
